AQUIND supports the 2019 Inter Parliamentarian World Cup (IPCWC)

Aquind were delighted to sponsor and be associated with the recent 2019 Inter Parliamentarian World Cup cricket competition.

This year’s IPCWC was hosted by the Lords and Commons Cricket Club one of the oldest cricket clubs in the world.  The tournament was organised in parallel with the ICC World Cup cricket tournament currently taking place and where England play New Zealand in the final at Lords cricket ground on Sunday 14th July. The IPCWC event is organised to promote and foster relationships between Parliamentarians from the participating countries.

The tournament featured Parliamentarian teams from England, Pakistan, New Zealand, Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh and India.  A number of cricket events were organised across various grounds in the London region at Teddington Cricket Club, Chiswick House, Blackheath Cricket Club with the finals played at the Beckenham Cricket Ground belonging to Kent County Cricket Club and used for first-class cricket.

The first semi-final match at Beckenham featured Pakistan v Afghanistan where Pakistan became the first team to win through to the final. The other semi-final match was a contest between England and Bangladesh, with the latter winning. The final between Pakistan and Bangladesh witnessed some high-quality cricket and where Pakistan ran out as overall tournament winners.

In addition to cricket, other events were organised which allowed participating teams and their guests to meet and mix in relaxed and social settings. These included an event hosted at the Speaker’s House at the Palace of Westminster and a reception event held in Durbar Court in the Foreign and Commonwealth Office building.   A final event was planned for the Rose Garden at No.10 Downing Street on the day of the ICC World Cup final.
