AQUIND Interconnector welcomes the announcement by ENTSO-E that the project has been included in the upcoming pan-European Ten-Year Network Development Plan 2022 (TYNDP 2022).

TYNDP 2022 will be the first plan of its kind after the United Kingdom’s exit from the European Union, and this decision highlights the importance of closer cooperation between the UK and the EU on matters related to energy and climate change.

AQUIND has been an integral part of several previous TYNDP editions – to date, the editions in 2016, 2018 and 2020. According to the assessment undertaken in the latest TYNDP 2020, AQUIND Interconnector brings significant pan-European benefits in terms of an increase in socio-economic welfare, a reduction of CO2 emissions and the integration of intermittent generation across the Member States.

AQUIND will continue cooperation with ENTSO-E, the European Commission, and other relevant EU bodies on the development of the project.
