AQUIND Interconnector will create in the region of £1.2bn / €1.4bn of contract opportunities, and is now seeking interested parties to participate in the procurement event for the Engineering Procurement and Construction (EPC) Contracts as detailed below, via a voluntary OJEU Invitation to Negotiate Process.

All interested parties have until the 12:00 (BST) on the 4th of July 2019 to express their interest, including the completion of an appropriate Expression of Interest and Non-Disclosure Agreement, in the three main procurement packages;

LOT 1 – Converter Stations:

  • The Detailed Design, Engineering, Procurement, Manufacture, Supply, Transportation, Installation, Construction (including civil works), Testing, Commissioning, Supply and delivery of strategic and operational spares, Interfaces with other suppliers, such other works, services and goods that might be necessary to successfully commission and put into operation the 2 HVDC Converter Stations.
    • 2 x HVDC Converter Stations (One near – Lovedean Substation in Hampshire, UK and one near Barnabos Switching Station in Seine-Maritime department of Normandy, France)
    • Optional – Provision of Operational services (under a separate operation service agreement including options to extend at the sole discretion of AQUIND Limited).
    • Optional – Provision of Maintenance services, including the continued replenishment of spares under a separate maintenance services agreement including options to extend at the sole discretion of AQUIND Limited.

LOT 2 – HVDC Cables and Accessories and Fibre Optic Cables and Equipment.

  • The Detailed Design, Engineering, Procurement, Manufacture, Supply, Transportation, Installation (including civil works), Testing, Commissioning, Maintenance (optional), Supply, Storage and delivery of spares, interface with other suppliers, such other works, services and goods, that might be necessary to successfully commission and put into operation the HVDC Cables and Fibre Optic Cables.
    • Two circuits of HVDC Marine and Underground Land Cables and Fibre Optic Cables (up to 192 Fibres, one per circuit) and equipment – Including the Marine and Land cable installation (including civils works, ducting, HDD works). The approximate cable route length 238km, including i) 20km UK Land ii) 36km French Land and iii) 182km of Marine cable route.

AQUIND Limited may sub-divide this LOT into two or more packages of work during the procurement process. If this LOT 2 was sub-divided into Lot 2a (Provision of all works for Pole 1 circuit) and Lot 2b (Provision of all works for Pole 2 circuit), AQUIND Limited would set evaluation criteria that reward manufacturers which propose to use the same Civils Contractor, further details will be provided in the ITT documents.

LOT 3 – Full Turnkey Solution:

  • A combination of LOT 1 and LOT 2 combined.

AQUIND Limited may request the commencement the detailed design and engineering studies for any or all of Lot 1 and Lot 2 or Lot 3 prior to the commencement of works within the same lots, depending on the outcome of an application for a grant from the Connecting Europe Facility, submitted by AQUIND Limited.

AQUIND Limited does not consider itself to be a contracting entity or utility within the meaning of the procurement legislation but it is placing the OJEU Notice on a voluntary basis.
